What I Learned From the First Week of Design School (U of U)

(First Week's Outfits) 

No Textbooks! Yay!

Uh... $500 in supplies and software? Not so yay...

Get to know the people in your class, if you don't already... Uh, because they will be in all your classes.

They'll also be in the bookstore, trying to get the same supplies you are... Which can be fun. Or awkward, if there is only one bottle of spray adhesive left.

People always know you are an art major. It probably has something to do with the 4'x5' museum board you just bought and have to haul around campus with you all day.

There's another drawing class. Really.

Your teachers tell you not to work over 20 hours, and you know you have to work 30... Crap.

The teachers referred to the first year in the Design Program as "Boot Camp." Um, yay?

You already have a project due in your Visual Design class.

Everyone on campus will be very aware of what your major is. Mainly because you have to haul around giant poster boards, rolls of paper, and 24x36 drawing boards. And your other materials. 

The first day is just going over the syllabus and you are out, right? Wrong.

That 6pm-10pm class you signed up for? Yah, that dude took all 4 hours on the first day.

It is so incredibly interesting, exciting, intimidating, time consuming and amazing. And it's only the first week.

You will fall in love with it. 

Friday Favorites!

Friday...Friiiiiiiday!!! My favorite word these days. Firstly, I am not complaining. But work has seemed crazy long without school to break it up a little bit. And M and I are taking advantage of the extra time we have...and working more. Bleh. But that being said, M and I can focus on doing fun stuff on the weekends (instead of homework). Lots of hikes, festivals, and smoothies coming this weekend, I can feel it. And maybe some swimming. Sounds good to me! These summer weekends... Definitely a favorite. :) 

For some reason this week, I have been obsessed with kitchens on Pinterest.

Friday Favorites!

Oooh boy. My Hubby is definitely a favorite this week. I mean, a trip to the spa for my birthday?? Relaxation while other people rub MY back (I usually rub Hubby's, but I don't mind--I love to do it)... That is heaven, people. 

So this gorgeous guy I get for all eternity (jealous? I know...) is definitely a favorite all the time, but a SUPER-favorite this week. :)   

My other present... This fantastic classic of a bag. I expect many uses out of this baby.
For the price, it better outlive me! Not joking. 

This mud mask is so great. Blackheads were significantly less and pores smaller after just one usage. 

Anybody remember this guy?

I went shopping a few months ago and found a sweater I absolutely fell in love with. Since I haven't posted in a while, I still have shown it yet (Sorry for the crappy pictures, I always just snap them in the mirror before I leave in the morning, the quality isn't always great).

Good Friends and Baseball--What American Summers are made of

Ok, confession: I'm not a lover of baseball. But good friends and an excuse to bbq? That I can get behind. 

Utah doesn't have any real teams. Sorry, Utah. 

You don't have a football team, you don't have a hockey team, you don't have a baseball team. 

You have soccer. That's useless nice. 

But they do have a minor league baseball team (whose redeeming qualities include their logo and their fireworks). Haha, I kid. Kinda. The Salt Lake Bees:

But seriously. How cute is that logo. 

Anyway, so we went to a game last weekend and it was fun! M and I, my dear friend April and her Hubby all went... Somehow she and I did not even get a picture together... That will need to be remedied somehow (I'm coming upstairs when you are in your pj's and getting a picture, April! Mwahaha). We had homemade J-Dawgs (not as good as the real thing, but good in a pinch) and then headed to the game.

But we had a great time, it was so fun! Grateful for good friends.

Spring Break

In my dreams, I am getting ready to travel to a tropical climate with very fashionable clothes for a week of no cares with my Hubby. 

In reality, we are both up super late worried/studying for tomorrow's midterms. 

Well, I can dream. And now you can dream with me: 

We would find little hole in the wall restaurants with foods we can't pronounce and wander streets and quaint shops forever. We would go horseback riding in the ocean and Hubby would beat me in the race across the beach. We would snuggle and watch sunsets swim and 

never look at a watch, calendar, or phone. 

This is one of the outfits I would wear on our hypothetical vacation--that dress is classy enough to wear around into the shops and restaurants, but simple enough to throw on over my swimsuit. 

 I love this trendy tribal suit and this super easy maxi dress. Both are a no-brainer for my vacation.

Mmmm.... Me too. :) I think I will let it follow me into my dreams tonight.
